It’s Small Business Week! Time to celebrate, break out the wine & meet us in our chill room so we can toast everyones’s success. If you ask us, we think every week should be Small Business Week…backbone of #America!
In my travels over the past few years with Spark and Hustle and other entrepreneurial speaking opportunities, I’ve met thousands of entrepreneurs. The ones that turn me on the most and are most successful have not only created great products and services, focus on serious hustle, but are killing it in the marketing arena.
There are a few areas we look for in great marketing: Social Media Impact, Effective Email Marketing, Strong Overall Brand Message, and a Give Back Attitude.
It didn’t take us long to name four small businesses that we are most impressed with in these areas. Oh yeah, these are small businesses with limited budgets and have mastered marketing…so, you can do it too!
Social Media Impact- Rustic Cuff
When you see Rustic Cuff on social media (especially Instagram) you immediately sigh, then smile and wish you were drinking from the same well they get their water. They mix knock ’em dead beautiful pictures with their founders family antics, fans displaying their arm candy proudly and celebs sporting these incredible pieces of art. They have truly made each owner of a Rustic Cuff their social media ambassadors. We love them and know you will too. Check out their Instagram HERE.
Effective Email Marketing – May Designs
If it were possible to be in love with stationery, May Designs would be our amore. Their email blasts are gorgeous, clean, well laid out and chock full of personality. Yet, creating a beautiful email is never enough…it’s the subject line that makes it effective. No open, no impact. With subject lines like “8 gorgeous wallpapers for your phone or desktop + a giveaway” and “This 50% off #TBT really sparkles” you know exactly WHY you want to open them. Sign up for their good stuff HERE.
Strong Overall Brand Messaging – Rebecca Rescate
Serial entrepreneur and two time Shark Tank veteran, Rebecca Rescate is a beast when it comes to branding. She has launched FIVE totally different products, serving very diverse audiences, yet her branding message is consistent. Simple. Problem Solving and Purposeful. No matter if it’s her feline toilet training product CityKitty or uber chic HoodiePillow, her customers have been conditioned to expect great things from her company. Proving that nailing your brands’ overall message is critical in achieving exponential growth. Fall in love with her and her products HERE.
Give Back Attitude – Well Kept
Screen cleansing towelette company, Well-Kept Founder and CEO Neeley Kolsch is passionate about causes and believes in a well-kept community of giving. She frequently designs patterns inspired by a worthy, usually underserved cause, donating a portion of her proceeds. “Karagoto” helps startups in Kenya, “Frank” honors our military families and “Drive” was co-created by several men suffering from ALS, with the pattern being created by their wheelchair tracks. We should all look at Cause Marketing as a way to further connect with our audience and make a bigger impact in this world. Help Neeley give back HERE.
Again, these are all small businesses with limited budgets. Choose one of these marketing areas and focus on nailing it and watch your sales soar!
If you’re hesitant, or don’t know what foot to put forward first, we’re happy to help you figure all this out – give us a shout!
